Mission Accomplished

Wes found a new home.

I have known this day was coming for over a year now, so I've been getting more and more used to the idea. This day was still very difficult for me. Wes cried for the first half of the drive while he was in his crate, which he hates. I took him out and put him on my lap for the rest of the ride and he was much more calm.

He went to a home where he'll be taken care of by a retired woman who really knows animals. He's getting much more attention than I ever could give him and I believe that she'll provide a much more enriched atmosphere with a few other pets and a massive property. I stayed in their home for about an hour with Wes on my lap and just chatted with the nice woman. By the time I left, I was at peace, knowing that Wes would be loved.

I had Wes for over four years and in that time, we lived together in 4 different homes, had 2 different human roommates and two different feline roommates. We developed our own language and knew eachother's schedules. He was my buddy and I can only hope to have a bond like that with another animal in the future.

I will be pet-free for several years while I get married and settle in with my new wife and step-son, but we're committed to find a hypoallergenic friend to add to our home as soon as the time is right.

I still receive updates about how Wes is doing, so stay tuned for a little more Wes before we close this chapter.

I haven't had any response from this blog or from Facebook, so I had to list Wes on Craigslist.

If you know of anyone who might be a good home for Wes, please share this site or the Craigslist ad with that person.

Thank you!

Belly Rub

That belly must be scratched!

Wes is a big fluffy dude and loves belly scratches and snuggling in bed, but then again... who doesn't.
